Today we attended our first Thames Ward community event at the Rivergate Centre led by local Community Interest Company Triangoals, their annual Community Feast.
It was great to see so many local residents, children and young people from so many different backgrounds come together and have such a great time.
Fatuma, from Triangoals, opened proceedings with a brief introduction of their organisation, emphasising their passion for the local area, the organisations priorities and the services that they deliver for the community. There was an appeal for more residents to get involved in assisting them to grow and be able to continue to keep putting on exciting events for all to enjoy.
The day included FREE toys for the children in attendance donated by the East London Business Alliance (ELBA), music from local DJ Damix, games and prizes for the children led by Triangoals and of course plenty of delicious FREE food from local legend Delish Divine Catering (aka Mr Nice).
Thames Ward Community Project conducted a short mapping exercise with residents to discover more about where residents like to spend their time within Thames Ward, where they feel safest and most happy and what they would most like to change or improve about their area and will be using the results we gained to inform our work going forward.
All in all a great day and an amazing buzz in the room from local people passionate about their community. None of which would have been possible without the work of Fatuma and Jeorgina from Triangoals with funding from Barking & Dagenham CVS and some additional support from Thames Ward Community Project.
